QUEENSBOUND 2024 is an audio poetry project curated by KC Trommer that showcases the rich diversity of Queens through the words of poets writing about the borough, all anchored to a Queens-line subway map. Since its inception in 2018, the project has expanded to feature 60 total contributors from various communities, offering unique narratives that range from neighborhood observations to personal histories. The 2024 edition introduces poems in multiple languages alongside their English translations, featuring a blend of emerging and seasoned poets, including allia abdullah-matta, Jared Beloff, Nathalie Handal, Olena Jennings, and Hiromi Kiba.
I contributed my poem, Queens Bohemian Rhapsody, to this year's collection. Anchored to the J train’s 121st Street station, the piece captures the essence of the daily subway commute to music venues while simultaneously highlighting the area's significance as a sanctuary for migratory birdwatching. In addition to the digital map feature, I joined the other selected poets for a series of live readings directly on the 7 train, where we each shared our individual poems in motion.
